Leyton Pop Up Cinema // August 2013
Over the summer of 2013, two fellow students and I set up a temporary cinema in a vacant shop in Leyton.
The site was vacant for two months, so we spent one month constructing the cinema, and the second showing films.
We showed a different film each week, changing the cinema's design to be themed to the film we were showing.
As part of a larger scheme to rejuvenate the high street in Leyton, we worked with Waltham Forest Council who facilitated us occupying the shop free of charge, and funded our film licencing fees.
Aside from this, we had no other funding so the cinema was built solely out of found objects, hence why pallets and timber became our main building material.
